AccrediLaw | Current Status The PSRAS Portfolio is one part of the SRA-governed PSRAS assessment, which is administered by SRA-authorised assessment organisations. AccrediLaw is an independent training provider preparing candidates for that assessment; it is not itself an SRA-authorised assessment organisation and does not award PSRAS accreditation.

The PSRAS Portfolio

What is the PSRAS Portfolio?

The PSRAS Portfolio is a structured written submission used to demonstrate competence under the PSRAS framework. It focuses on how a candidate applies knowledge and professional judgement in police station practice.

The portfolio typically requires candidates to evidence decision-making similar to that expected in the Critical Incidents Test, but in a reflective, written format.

What assessors look for

Procedure

Understanding of police station processes and standard practice.

Rights and Safeguards

Application of suspects’ rights and the safeguards owed in custody.

Reasoning

Clear professional judgement throughout the file.

Structure

Logical structure and clarity in writing.

Reflection

Considered review of actions taken and the outcomes that followed.

Common portfolio challenges

Many candidates underestimate the time required to prepare a portfolio. Gathering suitable examples and aligning them with assessment criteria often takes longer than expected.

Candidates who are exempt from the PSRAS written examination often find the portfolio to be the most substantial part of the assessment process.

How AccrediLaw helps you prepare

AccrediLaw is an independent training provider. We prepare candidates for the PSRAS Portfolio and the wider assessment, but the accreditation itself is awarded by SRA-authorised assessment organisations, not by us.
